Louis D. Viola, 85, Retired Pennsylvania State Policeman of Shillington, passed away on September 25, 2008 in Reading Hospital after a brief illness.

He was the husband of Olga (Panco) Viola who celebrated their 57th anniversary on June 2 2008.

Born in Hazleton, he was a son of the late Felix and Henrietta (Ravina) Viola.

He was a graduate of Hazleton High School in 1942.

Mr. Viola was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II in the East Asian Theatre.

Louis was a PA State Police Officer for 34 years retiring June 9, 1983. After retirement, he worked for the Reading Hospital as a security guard until 2001.

He was a member of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, Millmont.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Patricia L. Viola, Shillington. There are also two sisters, Clara Foran and Anna Dominic, both of Hazleton.

Louis was predeceased in death by a sister, Mary Andras and a brother, Phil Viola.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church with Fr. Richard E. Nachajski celebrating and his nephew Rev. Deacon Larry Foran con-celebrating. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum. Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 9 to 9:30 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. In lieu of flowers, Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Local Chapter, 25 Stevens Ave., West Lawn, PA 19609, Online Condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhome.com.
