Louie Charles Troutman, 87, passed at 6:36 PM May 29,2010 in his Mount Pleasant Home, surrounded by his entire family.

Born December 22, 1922 in Newmanstown, Pa, he was a son of the late Howard LeRoy "Roy" Troutman and Sara Maclada (Schott) Troutman.

Louie was the husband of Mae M. (Minnich) Troutman, who passed March 31,1985. Mae for many years was the State Democratic Committeewoman.

For the past 13 years, he was the loving companion of Mazie Burkholder.

He served for two years in the Army in Europe during World War II.

Louie was the owner of Louie C. Troutman and Son Concrete Contractor for 47 years and also owned the former Sam Strauss Lumber Yard both of which were located in Glenside. He was most proud of his construction of the Rhodes and Eisenhower High-rise Apartments along with many other buildings in Reading.

Most recently, he was employed by Weiss Markets, Wyomissing Serving as the "Amish Delivery Man' on Faustnaught Day.

As an active horseman, he rode along much of the Appalachian Trail during the Pennsylvania Bicentennial.

He was the owner and instructor of horseback riding for many years at his Blue Marsh Farms Riding Academy.

Louie was active in local politics and served as an Officer in the Pennsylvania State Senate, 1961 -1962.

An active outdoorsman he was a member of numerous sportsmans' clubs and enjoyed spending winters fishing in Florida over the last 12 years much to the detriment of the local surf fish.

Surviving are three loving children: Donna S. (Troutman) Butzer, wife of Leonard J. Butzer, Greenfields; David L. Troutman, companion of Yoko Matthews of Wellington Florida, and Dixie L. (Troutman), wife of George Elbert II of Jupiter, Florida.

Other survivors include his brother, Richard L., husband of Louise (Knoll) Troutman of Bern Township, and his sister Sylvia M. (Troutman), wife of William Heck of Wyomissing.

In addition, there are four grandchildren, Shawn and Daryl (DJ) Butzer and Sara Mae & George Elbert "Trey" III and three great-grandchildren: Emilee, Alec & Brennon Butzer.

Louie was predeceased by three brothers, Harold E., Carl A. and Howard P.

Prayer services will be held Friday at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Resurrection at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road, Muhlenberg, Township. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum.
