Loretta C. Kuhn

Loretta C. (Boland) Kuhn, 92, formerly of West Reading, died August 14th at 1:35 a.m. in the Highlands at Wyomissing, where she had been since November 14, 2003.

Her husband, Edward J. Kuhn, Sr., died May 15, 1971.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Thomas N. and M. Gertrude (Flanagan) Boland.

She was a 1931 graduate of Mount Penn High School.

Mrs. Kuhn was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading.

She was a past member of the Board of Directors for the former Soroptimist Club.

Mrs. Kuhn was employed as a secretary at the former Pomeroy's, Reading, from 1932-1940.

She later became the owner of the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, West Reading, after the death of her husband in 1971. She held ownership until 1981 and continued to work for the funeral home until 2002.

She is survived by a son, Edward J., Jr., president of Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., husband of Lynda E. (Hudson) Kuhn of West Reading.

Other survivors include a sister, Rita (Boland), widow of Lester Gery of Media, Montgomery County, and a brother, Lawrence F., husband of Nancy L. (Lebengood) Boland of Wyomissing, and a son-in-law, Richard A. Stitzel, Spring Twp.

There are also nine grandchildren: Amy L. (Stitzel) Miller, Edward J. Kuhn, III, Michael R. Kuhn, Matthew J. Stitzel, Beth A. (Stitzel) Donghia, Andrew T. Kuhn, David J. Kuhn, Meg B. (Stitzel) Rosenberg and Elizabeth M. (Kuhn) Chandler.

She is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Kuhn was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Anne (Kuhn) Stitzel, who died November 27, 2004.

She was also predeceased by ten siblings: Anna Boland, Dr. Matthew Boland, Mary G. Winkfield, Margaret Altenderfer, Thomas Boland, Helen B. Tate, John Boland, Esq., Alice V. Boland, Dr. Clem Boland and Robert Boland, Esq.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 am in St. John Baptist de la Salle R.C. Church, 420 Holland Street, Shillington. Viewing Friday 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. No public viewing on Saturday. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township. Contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 6217, Wyomissing, PA 19610. www.kuhnfuneralhome.com To the church from the funeral home: Penn Avenue East (towards the city of Reading). Right onto 5th Avenue, a.k.a. Museum Road. Turn left onto Lancaster Avenue (at light in Shillington). Make a right at the next light (Wyomissing Avenue). Pass Wixon's Bakery on your right, and turn left onto Kerrick Road. The church is at the top of the hill.
