Lois Marion Binder

Lois Marion (Lamson) Binder, age 84, of Shillington, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at home surrounded by family, following a brave battle with sarcoma.

Lois was born September 10, 1928 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Arthur Clark and Eva Thomas Lamson. She spent her childhood years in Allentown. She graduated from Allentown High School where she was voted "Best Female Athlete." She was employed by the Pennsylvania Power and Light Company until 1949.

Lois met the love of her life, Marty Binder, on a blind date while he was attending Muhlenberg College and they were married on March 12, 1949. After their law school years in Philadelphia, the couple settled in Reading, Pennsylvania. They enjoyed 59 wonderful years of marriage until Marty's death in 2008. Lois was a devoted wife and mother who dedicated her life to selflessly caring for others. She was an active volunteer in the local hospital, schools and her church. Her family was her greatest pride and joy and her generosity was limitless.

In addition to being a loyal friend and fun-loving companion, Lois was a talented and competitive athlete who nurtured her passion for golf, a game she played and watched enthusiastically. Lois spent many happy winters in Florida and treasured her time in Stone Harbor, New Jersey with her children, grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She enjoyed bridge games, travel with friends and family, restaurants, dancing, her many dogs and bird-watching. Lois never lost her sense of humor.

Lois is survived by her son, Thomas Binder, Esquire and his beloved Linda M. Bingner of Sinking Spring, and her two daughters, Barbara Binder Casey, Esquire and her husband, Dr. Michael P. Casey of Rosemont, and Patricia Binder Throneburg, Esquire of Charlotte, North Carolina. Other survivors include her two brothers, Richard Lamson and Robert Lamson of Allentown.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Anne Casey Milligan and her husband, Andrew Milligan, Shannon Casey and her fiancé, Wally Zimolong, Esquire, Martin Casey and his fiancée, Dana Turker, Katherine Throneburg, Emma Throneburg, Natalie Binder, and her two great-grandchildren, Carter Milligan and Ford Milligan. Nana adored them all and she will be missed dearly.
