Llewellyn R. Hemig

Llewellyn R. "Lew" Hemig, 94, of Shillington, died January 3, 2019, at Phoenixville Hospital.

His wife, Mildred E. (Moyer) Hemig died in 2005.

Born in Cumru Township, he was a son of the late Howard E. and Elsie M. (Scheirer) Hemig.

Lew was a WWII veteran serving in the Navy.

He worked as a police officer in West Lawn and became their Chief for many years. He was very involved with several fire companies and a member of the Patriotic Order Sons of America to which his father and now his nephew are a member.

He is survived by six nieces and three nephews along with several great-nieces and nephews.

Services will be Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at 10 a.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading with burial to follow at Berks County Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
