Linda Marie Loomis

Linda Marie (Reed) Loomis, a kind soul defined by her unwavering devotion to her family, passed away on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025, at the age of 76.

Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Linda was the eldest child of Elbert and Helen Reed. As the big sister to Fred, Don, and Bill, she developed a nurturing spirit that became the hallmark of her life. After growing up in Oklahoma, Linda served her country in the United States Air Force. She later graduated from Miami Dade Community College and embarked on a meaningful career as a respiratory therapist. She spent her professional life helping others breathe easier, a calling that mirrored the way she provided comfort to her own family.

In February 1971, Linda met the love of her life, Michael Loomis, in Tulsa. Their connection was immediate; they were married nine months later on November 30, 1971. Over their 54 years of marriage, Linda and Michael's journey took them from Oklahoma to Pennsylvania, Florida, and Georgia, eventually settling in Berks County, Pennsylvania, thirty years ago. Together, they raised four children who were the pride of Linda's heart.

In her younger years, Linda found joy in dancing and exploring the outdoors, often hiking and camping in the state parks of Northern Pennsylvania and New York. Later, she and Michael enjoyed the serenity of the coast, particularly trips to Alligator Point and other favorite beaches in Florida. A woman of creative talents, Linda also found joy in painting, needlepoint, and baking. Her home was her sanctuary, often filled with the aroma of her famous Christmas cookies and sticky buns, the sound of laughter, and the warmth of her hospitality. As a member of Sacred Heart in West Reading, her Catholic faith guided her through every joy and challenge with grace.

Above all, Linda embraced the role of grandmother, adoring her grandchildren. Cadence, Corbin, and Isayah were her world, and she found immense joy in every moment spent in their company. The final six years of Linda's life were a testament to her fortitude. Though she faced a series of illnesses, she never lost hope. She fought with determination until the very end, bolstered by the love of her family and the many caregivers touched by her spirit.

Linda is survived by her husband, Michael Loomis; her children: Jaymie Loomis of Pennsylvania; John Loomis and his wife, Ericka of North Carolina; Jennie Loomis Deck and her husband, Josh of Missouri; and Jason Loomis and his wife, Lindsey of Maryland. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Cadence and Corbin Loomis (children of John and Ericka) and Isayah Deck (son of Jennie and Josh). She is also survived by her brothers Don Reed of Missouri and Bill Reed of Oklahoma; her Aunt Catherine of Oklahoma; and a community of friends and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Fred.

The family wishes to thank her many caregivers and healthcare workers for their compassion over the years.
