Linda Denby

Linda Caron Denby, 77, of Berks County died peacefully in her sleep at home on January 1, 2026. She was the wife of Dr. Robert Denby, who predeceased her on October 3, 2019.

Born on March 24, 1948, in St. Paul, Minnesota, she was the eldest daughter of Richard and Catherine Caron, the founders of Caron Treatment Centers headquartered in Wernersville, Pennsylvania. She grew up in Wyomissing Hills, and after graduating from high school went on to attend two years at Boston University during the first year that the university allowed women to attend. Later she transferred to Loretto Heights College in Denver, Colorado where she finished her bachelor's degree.

After college, Linda began her career as a teacher, working with children with special needs. Later, she joined the family business, Caron International, where she specialized in the sales of textiles, focusing on yarn and related craft supplies.

Throughout her life, Linda was deeply committed to serving the greater Berks County community. She served as the President of the Berks chapter of the American Cancer Society, as a board member for the Reading Symphony Orchestra and volunteered countless hours at the Reading Museum--just to name a few of the organizations that she was passionate about.

Over the course of her life, she carried forward her parents' legacy through her deep involvement with Caron Treatment Centers. Serving on the Caron Board of Trustees for more than 20 years, she was a steadfast advocate for individuals battling addiction and a compassionate voice for their families, helping guide the organization's expansion of services so that more people in need could access treatment. She also held deep appreciation for Caron's staff. In honor of her extraordinary service, Linda was recently bestowed with the prestigious designation of Trustee Emerita.

Linda was the kind of woman whose love did not ask for recognition or return. She gave it freely and openly, believing that love was meant to be shared and not measured.

Her family was her greatest joy, and as its matriarch, she led by example with grace, kindness and quiet strength. She also cherished a wide circle of friends who held a special place in her heart, and her devotion to family and friends was unwavering.

Linda Caron-Denby is lovingly survived by two children, James "Jamie" M. Caron (Jennifer) and Christina Caron-Moroney (Brandon); four grandchildren, Mackenzie Caron, Camryn Caron, William "Liam" Moroney and Isabella Moroney, and three siblings, Sandra Caron, Richard Caron (Jan) and Michael Caron (Dominque).
