Lillian C. (Sarig) Hemerly, 104, formerly of Lenhartsville died May 15th 2011. in the Hearthstone at Maidencreek assisted Living Facility. She was born November 12, 1906 in Lenhartsville and was the daughter of the late Harvey A. and Virgie M. (Kunkel) Sarig. She is survived by a niece: Charlene (Lesher) wife of Dennis Kline, Womelsdorf, nephews, Lee W. husband of Anna (Rubright) Herber, Hamburg and Lynn W. husband of Lynne (Ahrens) Sarig, Brecknock Township and Dale A. Sarig, Wyomissing and many great nieces and nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Lester P. Hemerly, a daughter Doris Virginia Hemerly and her loving companion, John H.R. Guth, 2 sisters, Florence (Sarig) wife of the late Warren Herber and Marie V. (Sarig) wife of the late Lester Lesher and a brother Paul F. Sarig and a nephew Bruce Lesher. Lillian attended the Lenhartsville School and was employed by the A.P. Miller Apparel Company, Shoemakersville as a floor lady for 43 years. She was a member of Frieden's Church, Lenhartsville, a charter member of the Women's Guild and a choir member for over 40 years. She was also a member of the auxiliary of the Shoemakersville Fire Company, Hamburg Area Widows and Widowers Group and the Fogelsville Area Senior Citizens Group. Lillian was a living history lesson who loved to learn new things and teach them to others. She enjoyed conversations and shared herself with many people. She spoke and read Pennsylvania German. She enjoyed playing pinochle, crocheting and knitting among other activities which kept her busy. The family would like to thank the staff at Hearthstone and her physicians for the loving care they provided Lillian during her stay. We would also like to thank the staff of Caring Hospice for their services near the end of her life. We would also like to thank her many friends, ministers and neighbors who visited and sent her gifts and cards while at Hearthstone. She appreciated all of you. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM from Frieden's Church, Lenhartsville with Pastor Dennis Cooper officiating. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc., 40 S. 4th St. Hamburg and Saturday morning at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Frieden's Cemetery, Lenhartsville.
