Emblem

Lester W. "Les" Moll, 93, passed away peacefully February 28, 2026, at his home in Wyomissing, PA surrounded by his family.

Born in Molltown, PA, he was the son of Earl W. and Irene J. (Meals) Moll. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary (Lance). He was a loving father to son Timothy L (Heidi Allen), daughter Amy L. (Jeff Vallia), and the late son William L. "Bill".

Lester graduated from Fleetwood High School, Class of 1950. He graduated from Wyomissing Polytechnic Institute as a machinist in 1955. He was a US Army veteran and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany (1955-1957).

He worked as a machinist/toolmaker at Textile Machine Works and Rockwell International (1950-1973), Sharpoint (1973-1986) as a supervisor, and Alcon Precision Device (1986- 1997) as tool and machine designer in the machinery dedicated to precision surgical needs and instruments until retiring in 1997.

Lester enjoyed carpentry and most things old & mechanical including hit & miss engines, antique tractors, and old tools. He was a frequent demonstrator of his restored projects at several local festivals including at the Gouglersville Grange and Hay Creek Valley Historical Association / Johanna Furnace where he spent much time volunteering with the "Over the Hill Gang" and working in the casting area. He found great enjoyment in spending time with his family and working in his wood shop which was referred to as "the barn". The barn was where he made many types of wooden stools & toys, created intricate wooden intarsia pieces, and built many other pieces of furniture & projects in general. If he wasn't in the barn, one could likely find him in his basement machine shop where he continued to practice his machinist toolmaker skills and would repair nearly anything that was presented to him in need of attention.

He enjoyed any time spent at "Molls' Grove", helping with 32 years of the "Corn Fest", and recreational boating including activities such as waterskiing & tubing. Besides waterskiing himself, he taught many others to ski on the Schuylkill River as a member of the "Berks Boating Club" and later at both Blue Marsh and Raystown Lakes. He enjoyed snow skiing in the Poconos and Vermont and was a member of the "Flying Dutchman" ski club in the 1950s. He treasured memories of his trip west to see Mount Rushmore, as well as other area attractions, and visiting Amy in Utah. He relished the game of golf and watching the Philadelphia Phillies.

Lester was a member of Reading Lodge 549 F&M, Dreibelbis Historic Farms, Hay Creek Valley Historical Association, and Bausman United Church of Christ, Wyomissing.

Les adored his grandchildren Abigail L (Timothy Thiry) and the late Timothy A. Moll. The sparkles in his eye were his great grandchildren Timothy A. and Leah M. Thiry.

Also surviving are sister Darlene (Rob) Roth; brother-in-law George Lance and brother Roland (Denise), along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Les was preceded in death by his older brother Earl R. Moll, sisters in law Elsie Moll and Janice Lance.
