Lester E. Stephenson

Lester E. Stephenson, 98, formerly of Reading, died January 25, 2013 in Berks Heim, Bern Township.

He was the husband of Marian A. (Brown) whom he married March 30, 1946.

Born October 3, 1914 in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Harry E. and Ruth I. (Adams) Stephenson.

Lester was employed as a truck driver with Interstate Systems for 30 years, retiring in 1976.

He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Reading.

Lester served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

Also surviving are his two children: Rev. Lester E., Jr., husband of Ruth Ann Stephenson of Scranton and Linda F., wife of Karl E. Sweigert of Shillington.

Other survivors include two brothers, Harry Stephenson of Muhlenberg Township and Donald Stephenson of Allentown and a sister, Betty Tobias of Reading.

There are also four grandchildren surviving, Kurt Sweigert; Gregg, husband of Tanya Sweigert; Amy, wife of Jeffrey Grant and Joel Stephenson.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. There will be a visitation held from 10:30 until the time of service. Burial will be private in Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
