Leroy I. Yoder

LeRoy Irvin Yoder, 84, died January 13, 2007 at 6:04 am in his Muhlenberg Township residence.

He was married February 22, 1947 to the late Elizabeth Eleanor (Youndt) Yoder, who died March 28, 1984.

Born November 14, 1922 in Temple, PA, he was a son of the late John Edward Yoder and Bertha (Staver) Yoder.

He was an Army Veteran of WWII and the Korean War.

LeRoy was employed 13 years in the freight house with Reading Railroad and later 13 years as a wholesale sales representative with Blue Mountain Dairy, Reading.

He was last employed 7 years as a potato chip maker with Good Potato Chips, Adamstown before retiring in 1984.

LeRoy was a life member of the Temple Fire Company and the Berks County Basketball Oldtimers.

He is survived by two daughters, Kathy A. wife of Wayne N. Clevenger of Culpeper, Vir., and Carol A. Blessing of Newmanstown, Lebanon County and two sons, Harold L. husband of Lynda M. (Mell) Yoder of Myerstown and William D. husband of Jacqueline D. (Benson) Yoder of Phoenix, AZ.

Other survivors include a sister, Esther R. widow of John Conrad of Tilden Township and a brother, Norman L. widower of Emma Yoder of Shanesville.

There are also nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

He is also survived by his friend, Jacqueline F. (Young) Dell, with whom he last resided.

LeRoy was predeceased by a son, David W. Yoder, who died March 23, 1960.

Services will be private. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Pinnacle Health Hospice, 250 One Norwegian Plaza, Pottsville, PA 17901 or to St. Joseph Assisted Living Center, 2900 Lawn Terrace, Reading, PA 19605. Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale is in charge of arrangements.
