Leroy A. Spatz, 82, of Rockland Township, passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2012 in the St. Joseph Medical Center where he was a patient.

He was the husband of Mary J. (Henley) Spatz.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Irvin A. and Gertie I. (Moyer) Spatz.

He was a graduate of Reading High School and was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

He worked as a floral designer for the former Miller and Fromm, Reading and was lastly employed for 35 years with AT&T (formerly Western Electric), Reading until retiring in 1989.

He was active with the Exeter Bible Church family for 51 years. He loved singing in the choir and being a member of the floral committee where he was highly regarded for his beautiful floral arrangements.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son: Jeffrey A. Spatz and wife Kelly E. of Oley and his daughter: Deanna L., wife of Rev. Alan Heathcote of South Africa. Also his sisters, Alice Kalbach of Bradenton, FL and Vera Davis of Aurora, CO and his grandchildren Ryan and Erik Heathcote and Hannah Spatz as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings: Kenneth, Grace, Ruth and Harold.

A service of committal and burial with military honors will be held in Charles Evans Cemetery, Centre Avenue, Reading on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 9:00 am. A celebration of life service will follow on Tuesday in Exeter Bible Church, 926 Philadelphia Avenue, Birdsboro at 11:30 am. Friends and family will be received at the church on Tuesday from 10:30-11:30 am. Contributions payable to the Leroy Spatz Memorial Fund, may be mailed to Blankenbiller Funeral Home, 423 Main Street, Oley, Pa. 19547.
