LeRoy A. Schaffer, 88, of West Lawn, passed away October 11, 2014 in his daughter's Robesonia residence.
He was the widower of L. Mae (Fenstermaker) Schaffer.
Born May 7, 1926 in Allentown, he was a son of the late Charles W. and Verna (Miller) Schaffer.
He worked as a hosiery knitting machine mechanic for over 43 years, working for John H. Guenther Hosiery Co., Reading; Leininger's Knitting Mill, Mohnton; and retiring from Camp Hosiery, Reading, in 1991.
LeRoy was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in WWII.
He was an active member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God, West Lawn, where he was a former member of the board, a Sunday School teacher, and the Sunday School superintendent.
LeRoy is survived by his three children: Karey L., husband of Marjorie Schaffer, West Lawn; Craig D., husband of Kelley Schaffer, Altoona; and Marlene M., wife of James Price, Robesonia. Also surviving are his siblings: Charles W., Jr., husband of Gloria Schaffer, Allentown; Margaret Urland, Emmaus; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his siblings: Paul Schaffer, Richard Schaffer, and Eleanor Lentz.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Glad Tidings AOG, 1110 Snyder Rd, Reading, PA 19609. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in The Evangelical Upper Milford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Glad Tidings AOG at the above address. Edward J.
