LeRoy L. Lengel, Jr., 100, formerly of Sinking Spring, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026, in the care of Manor at Market Square. He was the loving husband of Eleanor H. Lengel née Hoffman, and would have celebrated their 73rd anniversary on May 9.
Born in Minersville, he was the only son of the late LeRoy L. Lengel, Sr., and Marie Lengel neé Hoenich. He graduated from Minersville High School in 1944 and proudly played as tackle on the Battlin' Miners football team.
After graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy and honorably served on the USS Sustain in the Atlantic, Mediterranean, and Pacific Theaters during WWII. For many years LeRoy was a member of the American Legion Post 544 of Minersville.
He and Eleanor were long-time members of St. Ignatius of Loyola Church.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Eleanor; their children: Robert A., husband of Carol Lengel neé Haravitch, of Mountain Top, PA; David J. Lengel of Reading; and Mary A., wife of Paul V. Yankowsky, of Carolina Shores, NC; grandchildren: Christina Frazier (David); Katherin Zucco (Antonio); Daniel Yankowsky; Elizabeth Townsend (Mark); and Vincent Yankowsky; and great grandchildren: Jacob Frazier; Dominic and Jackson Zucco; and Everett and Genevieve Townsend.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at St. Ignatius of Loyola Church, 2600 St Albans Dr, Reading, PA 19609, with committal and military honors to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends and Family are welcome to view from 10:00 a.m. until the start of mass. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, is entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
