Leroy Wellington Hoffman

LeRoy Wellington Hoffman, 99, passed away Friday, February 5, 2021, in Keystone Villa, Blandon.

He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Magdalena (Zettlemoyer) Hoffman whom he married June 23, 1945.

Born at Christman Lake, Perry Township, he was the son of the late Thomas C. and Abelina S. (Schappell) Hoffman.

LeRoy was a graduate of Perry High School and McCann School of Business.

He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran, serving as a radio operator during World War II.

LeRoy was first employed as a bookkeeper at Victor Sturgis Pretzels. Later he became the Vice President of manufacturing at Red Cheek Inc. until his retirement.

He was a member of Zion's Church, Windsor Castle where he served as secretary for many years. He served as an elder for the church and was really devoted to the church.

LeRoy's main hobby was working. He also enjoyed bowling, gardening, music, and playing guitar.

He is survived by three children: Ronald L. Hoffman and significant other Linda Care, Reading; Barbara A., wife of Harold P. Bechtel, Jr., Reading; and Dianne L., wife of Mark M. Adam, Macungie. Five grandchildren: Kelly Tyler, Stefanie Howell, Matthew Bechtel, Bradley Bechtel, and Valerie Bell, and five great grandchildren: Rain, Anthony, Aiden, Robbie, and Brody also survive him.

In addition to his wife, LeRoy was predeceased by two sisters: Florence Gehman and Mae Border.

A private funeral service will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021, at 1:30 P.M., at Zion's Church, 770 Zion's Church Road, Hamburg, PA 19526. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. A viewing will be held one half hour prior to the service in the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Zion's Church at the above address, or American Heart Association, 300 5th Avenue, Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451.
