Leroy J. Delong

LeRoy J. DeLong, 72, of Muhlenberg Township, passed away on February 7, 2024 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. He was the son of the late Mark G. DeLong and Sylvia Aungst. LeRoy was the beloved husband of Linda K. (Kenee) DeLong, with whom he shared 34 years of marriage.

LeRoy was a 1969 graduate of Tulpehocken High School, where he played basketball, soccer, and baseball. LeRoy was a hard worker and explored a variety of professions, including being a licensed plumber, a landlord for his apartments, owner-operator of Magic Carpet Cleaners, but found being a Quality Supervisor at Dana Corporation most fulfilling.

He enjoyed traveling the world with his wife and family and working out, especially playing sports and running. A music lover, LeRoy had a large record collection and enjoyed attending rock concerts and Broadway shows. He also enjoyed being out in the woods and admiring wildlife. He always looked forward to playing with his granddogs, Pepper and Jax. And most of all, he loved his family.

In addition to his wife and his step-mother Janice DeLong, LeRoy is survived by his daughters, Katy DeLong Fritz, wife of Ethan Fritz, of Trexlertown, and Kim Heebner, of Marlton, NJ; his grandchildren: Maddie Heebner, Evan Heebner, and Kyra Fritz; his siblings: Donald DeLong, husband of Linda, of Las Animas, CO, Diane Gilbert, of Wyomissing, and Brian DeLong, significant other of Lynn Zerbe, of Buck Run.

He was predeceased by his father, mother, and brother, Michael DeLong.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. Friends and family will be received from 10-11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
