Leonard D. Noll Sr., 78, formerly of Reading, passed away on Tuesday morning, August 9, at Phoebe Berks Village in Wernersville. He was the husband of Mary Ann (Sherk) Noll. They married on August 15, 1959. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Leonard L. and Adrienne (Gans) Noll.
Lenny was a graduate of Reading High School. He received his bachelor's degree from Albright College and master's degrees from Temple University and Kutztown University. He was a member of the Pi Tau Beta Fraternity. Lenny taught in the Myerstown and ELCO School Districts early in his career, and spent 35 years as a teacher and guidance counselor in the Wyomissing Area School District. In 1973, Lenny received the Outstanding Secondary Teacher Award.
Prior to moving to Phoebe Berks, he was an active member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, in Reading, where he served on church council for many years. Lenny greatly enjoyed collecting and trading memorabilia, mainly baseball and Reading area items, as well as attending auctions and flea markets. He loved jazz music and the Philadelphia Phillies.
Lenny was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Leonard D. Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Bloomfield, New Jersey and Daniel S. and his wife, Holli, of Blandon. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren: David, Peter, Thomas, Zachary, Morgan, and Kirsten Noll.
The burial service will be held at Charles Evans cemetery (Reading) at 9:00 A.M. on Friday, August 12. Visitation that day will begin at 10:30 A.M. followed by a Memorial Service at 11:30 A.M. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 449 North 9th Street, Reading, PA 19601. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements.
