Leonard Charles McDevitt, Sr., 76, of Wyomissing, died June 2, 2007 at 5:45 pm in ManorCare Health Services, Spring Township, where he had been a patient since May 16th.

He was the husband of Bridget Ann (Edwards) McDevitt, whom he married June 18, 1955.

Born August 5, 1930 in Reading, he was a son of the late William A. and Anna M. (Henke) McDevitt.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading where he was a former lector.

Leonard was a 1948 graduate of Reading Catholic High School and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He was also a graduate of the Pennsylvania Realtors Institute with a GRI designation.

He was a Air Force Veteran of the Korean War.

Leonard was a realtor since 1956 and last worked with Wertz Hoffman Parks, Realtors, Wyomissing, before retiring in 1997.

He was the President of the Greater Reading Board of Realtors in 1981.

Leonard is also survived by five children; Patrick J. husband of Sandra J. (Melton) McDevitt of Mount Penn, Leonard C. McDevitt, Jr., of Laureldale, Marguerite M. wife of Christian A. Cambria of Wernersville, Thomas L. husband of Elaine M. (Bruno) McDevitt of Spring Township and Marian B. wife of Jeffrey P. Thuss of Mohnton.

Other survivors include four siblings; Sister Ildephonse Mary I.H.M. of Camilla Hall at Immaculata College, Mary wife of John Carroll of Audubon, Anthony husband of Mary McDevitt of Orange Village, Ohio and Francis X. husband of Joan McDevitt of Columbus, Ohio.

There are also ten grandchildren, Brennan, Shea, Timothy, Adam, Mark, Andrew, Ryann, Margaret, Elyse and Jennifer.

He was predeceased by five siblings; Rev. Charles, William, Bernard, George and Sister Marian, I.H.M.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 1:00 pm in Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Lakeview & Franklin Streets, West Reading, PA 19611. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:00 pm in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the church at the above address or the Father Thomas L. Edwards Center at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 1018 North 8th Street, Reading, PA 19604.
