Leonard Francis Mayernik

Leonard Francis Mayernik, 91, of Hyde Park, died January 21, 2015 in Phoebe Berks Healthcare, Wernersville.

He was the husband of Mary F. (Nanasko) Mayernik.

Born January 2, 1923 in Reading, he was a son of the late John J. and Anna (Jakabcin) Mayernik.

Leonard was a 1941 graduate of Reading High School. He earned an associate degree from Wharton School of Business in 1968.

He was employed with Continental Cans for 37 years, where he retired from in 1986 as supervisor of metal parts department.

Leonard served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Hyde Park.

Leonard's true passion was sailing; he spent his winters in the Florida Keys on his sailboat.

He is predeceased by his brothers, Thomas and John Mayernik.

Surviving are his two sisters-in-law, Cathy Mayernik of Sinking Spring and Leona Mayernik of Shillington.

Also surviving are his niece, Liane and his two nephews, Michael and Robert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Holy Guardian Angels R.C. Church, 3121 Kutztown Road, Muhlenberg Township. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the mass in the church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
