Leon N. McDevitt, 86, of Reading, died June 12, 2010 in ManorCare of Laureldale.
His wife, Anne (Larkin) McDevitt, died January 13, 2006.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Nathaniel J. and Anna C. (Haas) McDevitt.
He was a 1942 graduate of Reading Catholic High School.
Leon was employed for over 15 years as a senior interchange manager for the PA Turnpike Commission. He then worked for Conrail Railroad, Reading, until his retirement in 1988.
He was a member of St. Paul's R.C. Church, Reading.
Leon was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in WWII.
He is survived by two daughters: Mary L. (McDevitt) Ohlinger, Wyomissing, and Anne M. (McDevitt) Welsh, Shillington; and four sons: Leon N. Jr. and James F., both of Shillington; Mark J., Reading; and Stephen F., Mohrsville. Also surviving are his three siblings: Gerald, Temple, Vincent C., Temple and Helen Mitchell, Willow Street. There are 14 grandchildren surviving.
He was predeceased by a son, Joseph T., in 1987 and eight siblings: Rev. Francis, Joseph, James, Robert, Edward, David, Jane Antosy and Clare Miley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Paul's R.C. Church, 151 North 9th Street, Reading. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services in the church. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements.
