Leon D. Correll

Leon D. Correll, 86 of Hamburg died January 9th, 2013 in Schuylkill Medical Center East, Pottsville. He was born in Rocktown, (Tilden Township) and was the son of the late Charles and Ardella M. (Learch) Correll. Mr. Correll served in Korea with the U.S. Army and then Vietnam with the U.S. Air Force. He retired on May 31, 1971 after 24 years of service to his country. He was also a bronze star recipient. Leon was a member of St. Michael's Church, Tilden Township and was a member of American Legion Post 38, Schuylkill Haven. Leon is survived by 2 sons: Steve husband of Vicki Correll, Yardley, Hassan Correll, California and a daughter: Ardella Correll of Germany. He is also survived by a granddaughter: Katie Correll, Yardley, 2 brothers: Larry Correll, Florida, Paul Correll, Port Clinton; 4 sisters: Patricia Cook, Ohio, Martha Etchberger, Summerfield, Florida, Armistine Muntz, Hamburg, and Georgia Specht, Hamburg. He was predeceased by a son Timothy Correll in 1979. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 15th at 11:00 AM from the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc. Hamburg. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's Memorial Fund, 529 St. Michaels Church Road, Hamburg, PA. 19526. Military honors will be accorded by Ray Master Post 217, Topton, PA.
