Lena M. Kaley

Lena M. (Kramer) Kaley, 89, of Hamburg, passed away during the early hours of Tuesday, October 31, 2023, in her daughter's Orwigsburg residence. Lena was the widow of George R. Kaley, who passed away February 19, 1998. They married on October 19, 1957.

Born in Seipstown to the late Edgar R. and Mantana S. (Kunkel) Kramer, Lena was one of ten children.

Lena worked at the Hamburg Knitting Mill before taking a job in hospitality at the Hamburg Center. During her 30 years at the Hamburg Center, she transitioned to a nurse's aide, retiring in 1996.

She was a very active member of St. Paul's (Smoke) Church. She was a faithful volunteer at the Kutztown Folk Festival and was willing to assist in any task. She enjoyed embroidery and reading about the customs of the Amish. She made the very best sticky buns and raise cake. She was not only kind and helpful; she was also brave, and at the age of 70, Lena traveled around the world in the company of her daughter. She was also a frequent visitor of Beaver Dam, WI. Above all things, Lena was a very good mother and a loving grandmother.

Left to treasure Lena's memory are her daughters: Joan M. Syens (Todd) of Surprise, AZ; Renee J. Parish (Noel) of Springwood, NSW, Australia; and Cheryl A. Parker (Joseph) of Orwigsburg; her grandchildren: Jaime Syens; Dawn Dalton (Greg); and Victoria Selig (Joseph Gibson); and great grandchildren: Aiden Frederick; Lilly Gibson; and Logan Gibson. Lena is also survived by her twin sister, Annie Moyer, widow of Leon, and her nieces, nephews, in-laws, and their families.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Lena's memory to a charity of choice.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Kuhn Funeral Home & Crematory, 40 S 4th St, Hamburg, PA 19526, and committal to follow at St. Paul's Smoke Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, November 10, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until the start of services at the funeral home.
