Lawrence J. Resch, a Reading historian and author, died June 23 at 4 p.m. in Spruce Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, West Reading, where he had resided since April 4.
Resch, 74, of West Lawn, was the husband of Suellen (Windle) Resch. His second wife, June (Schock) Resch, died in July 1976.
In 1997, he wrote a book, "My Old Neighborhood", depicting life in Northeast Reading. He wrote "My Old Neighborhood II" in 2000.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Henry and Grace (Schultz) Resch.
Resch was employed for 10 years as a quality control supervisor by Bernville Manufacturing Co., retiring in 1986.
He is also survived by two daughters, Christine G. (Resch) Schittler, Dauberville, and Marcia L.(Resch) Evans, Hamburg.
Other survivors include six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at noon in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Spring Township.
