Lawrence J. Pacharis

Lawrence "Larry" J. Pacharis, 85, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2022 at Berks Heim. He was the husband of Margaret "Peggy" (Mitchell) Pacharis, with whom he shared 60 wonderful years.

Born in Seltzer, PA, Larry was the son of the late John Pacharis Jr. and Alberta Lipsky. He was one of four brothers: Stephen, deceased, Robert, and David.

Larry served in the Army and worked as a machinist at Polymer Corp for many years. He loved bodybuilding and considered himself a handyman.

Larry could often be found dancing with Peggy at Sunnybrook Ballroom, where they placed first in a swing dance competition and he was voted "Best Dressed." He was proud of his many awards and accomplishments, particularly placing second in the Mr. Reading competition in 1956, and fourth in 1957. When not dancing and winning competitions, Larry loved building furniture, painting, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Melodie Bartashus and Monica Compton; his grandchildren, Jason Bender and McKalin Paul; and his great-grandchildren: Avery, Raeynn, and Rowan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 24, 2022 at 11 am at St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, 4975 Boyertown Pike, Reading, PA 19606 with entombment to follow at Gethsemane Mausoleum. A separate viewing will be held at the church on Monday, January 24, 2022 from 10 am to 11 am.
