Lawrence O. Leibold

Lawrence O. Leibold, 91, of Laureldale, died September 20, 2012 in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

He was the husband of Fern T. (Brady) Leibold, whom he married July 24, 1943.

Born July 1, 1921 in Newside, PA, he was a son of the late Paul Oscar and Roma May (Layton) Leibold.

Lawrence attended Muhlenberg High School.

He was employed as a steam fitter with Wertz Engineering Company, Philadelphia. He was a life member of Steam Fitters Local #420.

Lawrence served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Hornorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant, he earned a bronze star.

He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale.

Lawrence enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and traveling; especially cruises with his wife.

He was a life member of Chandler Lodge #227 where he was a 32nd degree mason and her was a Shriner.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Carol A. Leibold Gable of Madeira Beach, FL.

Other survivors include five siblings: Raymond P. Leibold of Wyomissing, Lloyd L. Leibold of Laureldale, Irvin H. Leibold of Slatington, PA, Hilda (Leibold) Palmer of Laureldale and Irma (Leibold) Finn of Muhlenberg Township.

In addition, he is survived by his two grandchildren: Michael D. Ott and Kristina M. Ott and three great grandchildren, Brooke, Steven and Jonathan.

Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial, with military honors, will be at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township.
