Lawrence J. Harakal

Lawrence Joseph Harakal, 82, of Bern Township, died April 4, 2008 at 12:00 noon in ManorCare Health Services, Inc., Muhlenberg Township, where he had been a patient since February 6th.

He was the husband of Janet Louise (Beane) Harakal, whom he married October 4, 1980. His first wife, Anna Karish Harakal, died 1965.

Born December 4, 1925 in Reading, he was a son of the late Stephen Walter Harakal and Margaret A. (Guth) Harakal.

He was a member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Reading.

Lawrence was a Navy Veteran of WWII.

He was employed as a foreman for Rachlin Furniture.

Lawrence is also survived by two children; Joseph L. husband of Carol S. Harakal of Fort Worth, Texas and Johanna (Harakal) wife of Randall Barrell of Reading.

Other survivors include four brothers; Walter Harakal of Northmont; Raymond husband of Pauline Harakal of Hatboro, PA; Vincent A. Harakal of St. Petersburg, Florida and Ronald P. husband of Ann Harakal of Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

There are also two grandchildren, Tracy (Harakal) wife of Guenter Miller of Coatesville and Lawrence J. husband of Tania (Salaneck) Barrell of Shillington and two great grandchildren; Kelsey B. Miller and Cole K. Miller.

Services and burial will be private. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements.
