Lawrence E. Muthard, Retired Roofing Contractor

Lawrence Edward Muthard, 80, of Muhlenberg Township died unexpectedly April 20, 2011 in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center, where he had been a patient since Monday, April 18th.

He was the husband of Dolores Diane (Parker) Muthard whom he married May 19, 1952.

Born October 23, 1930 in Laureldale, he was a son of the late Edward and Marie Elda (Angstadt) Muthard.

Lawrence was a 1948 graduate of Muhlenberg Township High School.

He was the owner and operator of L.E. Muthard Roofing, Inc. from 1959 to 2005.

Lawrence served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of Rosedale United Church of Christ, Laureldale. He was also associate member of Lord of the Sea's Lutheran Church, Big Pine Key, Florida.

A former member of Epiphany Lutheran Church, Temple, he served as past president of church council.

He was Past President of Muhlenberg Lions Club.

Lawrence was an avid fisherman and spent winters in the Florida Keys and summers at Indian River Inlet. He also enjoyed hunting and gardening but his greatest passion was for his family and church.

Also surviving are four children: Jamie L. (Muthard), wife of Clark Beil of Fairfax, VA; Jodie D. (Muthard), wife of Pedro Madueno of Muhlenberg Township; Julie A. (Muthard), wife of Thomas M. Pietrowski of Muhlenberg Township and Laurie M. (Muthard), wife of Alan J. Peer of Temple, PA.

Other survivors include nine grandchildren: Chase L. Beil, Katherine I. Beil, Edward M. Madueno, Elena M. Madueno, Peter M. Madueno, Jennifer A. Pietrowski, Thomas J. Pietrowski, Benjamin L. Peer and Adam S. Peer.

In addition, there is a brother, Rodney A., husband of Mary Jane (Lee) Muthard of Honey Brook, Chester County.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in Rosedale U.C.C., 1301 Bellevue Avenue, Laureldale, PA 19605. There will be a visitation held one hour prior to the service in the Church. Burial will be private at Laureldale Cemetery.
