Lauren M. Fitzgerald

Lauren M. Fitzgerald, 20, of Wyomissing, died July 18th in Duke University Hospital, Durham, NC, of natural causes. She had been a patient at the hospital since July 14th.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of Michael S. Fitzgerald, Wyomissing and Mary Ann (Cairo) Blefko, Reading. She is also survived by her step-mother Sorita E. (Barfield) Averill, Wyomissing and her step-father John W. Blefko, Reading.

She was a 2003 graduate of Wyomissing High School where she was a co-captain her senior year on the field hockey team. She was also a member of the stage crew and a five-year member of the Latin Club at Wyomissing.

Fitzgerald was a sophomore Interior Design Major at Drexel University, Philadelphia, where she was a member of the crew team and Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority.

She was employed part-time at Gold's Gym, Wyomissing.

Fitzgerald is also survived by two sisters, Liz Cairo of Redondo Beach, California and Hannah Link Fitzgerald of Boyertown.

Services will be Saturday at 11:00 am in Grace Fellowship Church, 622 Old Lancaster Pike, Shillington. There will also be a candlelight vigil at Happy Hollow Park, Terrace and Wayne Avenues, Wyomissing Friday at 7:30 pm. No public viewing. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Lauren Fitzgerald Fund f.b.o. Brain Tumor Research or Scholarship Fund, c/o Sovereign Bank, 840 Penn Avenue, Wyomissing, Pa 19610. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements.
