Larrié "Larie" Summar Thomas, 24, of Laureldale, died February 2, 2007 at 11:05 am after a 5 year battle with colon cancer, while in the loving arms of her mom and dad in the Reading Hospital, where she had been a patient since January 29th.

Born July 15, 1982 in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, she was a daughter of Debbie R. (Barrell) and James A. Mason, Sr., of Temple.

She was a 2000 graduate of Muhlenberg High School and a 2004 graduate of Alvernia College with a B.A. in Criminal Justice.

Larrié was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God, Spring Township, where she was involved in One Purpose Singles Ministry and the Loving Arms Cancer Support Group.

She was also a 1993 graduate of the Pennsylvania State Police Camp Cadet Program and an eleven year member of the Law Enforcement Explorer Post where she took up a leadership role as a junior staff member, attaining the rank of Lieutenant.

Larrié was employed for the last two years as a Juvenile Corrections Officer with the Berks County Juvenile Detention Center, Bern Township, last working in September 2006.

She is also survived by her boxer, Rookie Thomas.

Other survivors include her biological father, Randall W. Thomas, Sr. of Washington Court House, Ohio; her paternal grandmother, Peggy L. (Hill) Loel and her paternal step-grandfather, Larry H. Loel, both of Chillicothe, Ohio.

Larrié is also survived by a half-brother, Randall W. Thomas, Jr. of Washington Court House, Ohio and three half-sisters; Tina M. (Thomas) Mount of Chillicothe, Ohio, Brandallyn W. Thomas of Washington Court House, Ohio and her little sister, Natalie F. Mason of Temple.

There are also one step-brother, James A. Mason Jr., of Wernersville and two step-sisters, Stephanie A. (Mason) Lingle of Duncannon, PA and Kelly M. Mason of Robesonia.

Services will be held Wednesday at 10:00 am in Glad Tidings Assembly of God, 1110 Snyder Road, Spring Township, with the Rev. Scott M. Kramer celebrating. Viewings will be held Tuesday 5:00 - 8:00 pm in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, 3300 Kutztown Rd., Laureldale and Wednesday 9:00 am until time of services in the church. Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Camp Cadet, Attn: Dan Fanelli, 120 N.
