GMCM Kenneth Scot Ray, U.S.N (Ret.), 74, of Wyomissing died March 29, 2012 in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading.
Born October 29, 1937 in Reading, he was a son of the late Winfield Scot and Mary Elizabeth (Yaklich) Ray.
He was the husband of Hisako (Yoshioka) Ray who died November 27, 2009.
Kenneth was retired from the United States Navy in 1979. He served 24 years and was mostly stationed on the west coast and far east. He was on all types of ships from destroyer escorts to aircraft carriers. His favorite ship was the LST Vernon County, which he served aboard while in Vietnam from 1965-1969.
After retirement he moved back to Reading and did general maintenance for several area apartments.
Kenny loved his dogs, which were Akitas and Chows.
Surviving is a brother, Gerald D., husband of Marallise Ray of Wyomissing and a sister, Kathleen M. (Ray), wife of Morris B. Angstadt of Lincoln Park.
Other survivors include nieces and nephews: Karen, Joella, Susan and Jason and 3 great nieces and a great nephew.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Forest Hills Memorial Park, 391 W. Neversink Road, Exeter Township. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements.
