Kenneth A. Mettam, 83, passed away in his West Lawn home, surrounded by his loving family, on January 15, 2014. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Dellock) Mettam. Born in St. Clair, Pennsylvania, Kenneth was the son of Oliver A. Mettam and Mary I. (Wilson) Mettam; he was raised by his step-mother Mary V. (Minahan) Mettam.

Kenneth graduated from St. Clair High School, St. Clair, PA and Bordentown Military Academy, New Jersey. He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1951-1954.

Kenneth proudly continued the family business as the owner/operator of Mettam Brothers Lumber Company in St Clair, PA until his retirement in 1998.

Prior to his retirement, Kenneth served as the Secretary of the Board of Directors of the formers People's Bank and Safe Deposit, St. Clair, PA. He was also a past member of the Kiwanis Club, the Pottsville Club, and the Fountain Springs Country Club.

In addition to his business interests, Kenneth loved to travel, read, watch WWII documentaries, and spend time with his family.

Kenneth is survived by his devoted wife Barbara, his children, Anne E. Mettam, Esq, Baltimore, MD; Mary Helen (Mettam) Bulino, St. Clair, PA; Kenneth R. Mettam, Pottsville, PA; Sean M. Mettam, St. Clair, PA; grandchildren, a great-grandson, nieces, nephews and his beloved dogs, Maggie and Violet. He was preceded in death by his brother John and his first wife Isabel Ross Mettam.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Entombment will be in St. Ambrose Mausoleum, Schuylkill Haven. Friends may call Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Animal Rescue League, P.O. Box 69, Mohnton, PA 19540.
