Kenneth M. Kauffman

Kenneth Mark Kauffman, 82, of Windsor Township and formerly of Dunedin, Florida died August 22, 2007 in the Laurel Nursing Center, Tilden Township.

He was the husband of E. Joyce (Heimerdinger) Kauffman, whom he married 60 years ago on June 21, 1947.

Born in Leesport on February 27, 1925, he was a son of the late Arlan W. and Elizabeth (Kindt) Kauffman.

He was a 1943 graduate of John Harris High School, Harrisburg and a 1947 graduate of Penn State University, where he was a member of the Blue and White Band.

Kenneth was a Navy Veteran of WWII.

He was employed 25 years as an office manager with Stroehmanns, Altoona and another 10 years with McBee Automated Business Systems, Harrisburg as a salesman and instructor.

Kenneth was later employed a total of 13 years in the tool department with Lowe's in both Clearwater, Fl and Muhlenberg Township, last working in November.

He was a 35 years member serving in all ranks with the Central Berks Lions Club and was a Melvin Jones Fellow.

Kenneth was also a member of the Clearwater (Fl.) Evening Lions Club.

He was also a life member of the Leesport VFW Post #11282; American Legion Post #275, Clearwater, Fl., and a 32nd degree F.& A.M. with Mountain Lodge #281, Altoona.

Kenneth is also a member of the Penn State Alumni Association.

He is also survived by two daughters, Susan J. (Kauffman) wife of Dennis I. Heck of Windsor Township and Linda L. Kauffman, life partner of Deirdre C. Speck of Rehoboth Beach, Del.

Other survivors include a brother, Richard A. Kauffman of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Robert E. Sellers, Jr., Brad S. Sellers, Casey I. Heck and Scott J. Heck.

There are also five great grandchildren, Daniel B. Sellers, Emily B. Sellers, Melanie R. Sellers, Kimberly M. Heck and Ethan W. Sellers.

He was predeceased by a son, Jeffrey K. Kauffman, who died March 2, 2007 and a brother, Frederick N. Kauffman, who died May 13, 2006.

Memorial Services will be held Sunday at 3:00 pm in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Central Berks Lions Club, PO Box 302, Centerport, PA 19516.
