Kenneth Joseph Kaiser

Kenneth Joseph Kaiser passed peacefully at the age of 90 on August 24, 2021, at home and surrounded by his family. The son of the late Charles H. Kaiser and Marie (Ulrich) Kaiser, Ken was born on February 7, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from St. Catherine's High School in 1950, where he played on the baseball, basketball, and football teams. Ken was enlisted in the USAF from 1950 to 1954 as an instructor radio operator on B-29s and KC-97s. It was during this time that Ken met the love of his life on a blind date, the late Janet Weidner Kaiser. For over 65 years, he was Janet's devoted husband, raising their four children and sharing a lifetime of love and support together, until Janet's passing on April 27, 2021.

Ken was a 1959 graduate of The Ohio State University, where he received his BS in Accounting. After graduating from OSU, Ken and Janet moved to Janet's hometown, Reading, PA, and began his career at Coopers and Lybrand, and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1962. He worked as an accountant for Robert Emig Products, Inc. and then as assistant controller at Rockwell International, fka Textile Machine Works, before joining Wyomissing Corp, a division of Alco Standard Corp's Unisource group, in 1971 and in the position of controller. Ken enjoyed a long and successful career at Wyomissing Corp, retiring in the role of president and chief operating officer in 1989.

An avid sports enthusiast and athletically inclined, Ken loved the game of golf, regularly bowled in a league, played extramural softball as an adult, and always rooted for his favorite teams. He also enjoyed gardening and landscaping, playing cards, feeding the birds and deer, and sharing laughter and stories with his friends and family. Ken adored all animals, in particular the 13 dogs and two cats with whom he was honored to share his life.

Ken will be remembered by all who loved him as an incredibly generous man who was full of life, warm greetings and witty jokes. He took pride in everything he did and always gave his best effort. He went out of his way for those lucky enough to have known him, always providing excellent advice and mentorship, and there was nothing he would not do to help a person or animal in need. He shaped and inspired his children with his strong values and dedication to family. There was nothing Ken loved more than his wife, family, sports, good food and a glass of wine. He was fortunate to live a life filled with all of these things.

Surviving him are his four children, Marguerite Kaiser Rauenzahn (Wayne R. Rauenzahn), Jennifer Kaiser Zserai (Paul S. Zserai), Charles Weidner Kaiser (Stephanie Walters), and Rebecca Lynn Kaiser; nine grandchildren, Rachael Lynn Fraytic, Tina Marie Kaiser, Joseph Asher Kaiser, Benjamin Todd Moser, Evan Wayne Rauenzahn, Mitchell Weidner Rauenzahn, Madeline Marie Rauenzahn, Emily Renee Kaiser, and Leah Alexis Kaiser; four great-grandchildren, Trinity Ava Fraytic, Olivia Marie Moser, Hayden James Fraytic, and Maddox Benjamin Moser; a brother, Donald Jerome Kaiser, and a sister, Rosemarie Kaiser Tocco; and his faithful canine companions, Breezy and Elliot. Ken was predeceased by his wife, Janet Weidner Kaiser; three brothers, Charles Joseph Kaiser, James J. Kaiser, William Francis Kaiser; and two sisters, Mary Jane Kaiser Zanotti and Elizabeth Kaiser Frost.
