Kenneth S. Heinly, Sr.

Kenneth Stanley Heinly, Sr., 84, a resident of the Laurel Center, Hamburg and formerly of Leesport, died September 19, 2013 in St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Dexter (Hendricks) Heinly and his second wife, Betty A. (Snyder) who died August 12, 2005.

Born March 18, 1929, he was a son of the late Howard and Jennie M. (Long) Heinly.

He was employed as a foundry worker with Hamburg Plow Works, where he worked for 15 years.

Kenneth was a member of Becker's St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Molltown.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Surviving is his son, Kenneth S., Jr., husband of Wanda L. (Dissinger) Heinly of Hamubrg, his daughter, Anna (Heinly), wife of Albert Fajna of Shoemakersville; his step-children: Ronald P., husband of Susan L. (Pawling) Merkel of Shoemakersville; Darlene A., wife of Randy Nye of North Carolina; Warren P., Jr., husband of Debbie Merkel of Cumberland County; Terry L. Merkel of TX; Donna M. (Merkel), wife of Bruce Nager of Exeter Township; Denise R. (Merkel), wife of Matthew Carnish; Debra J. (Merkel), wife of Randy Dyarmen; Brenda L. (Merkel), wife of Carl Barrick and Linda L. (Merkel), wife of Kenneth Ryan, all of Cumberland County

In addition, he is survived by his brother, Robert, husband of Carol Heinly of Kutztown.

Kenneth was predeceased by brother, Leroy Heinly.

There are also 8 grandchildren, 20 step-grandchildren and several great grandchildren surviving.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Kuhn-Stitzel Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Kutztown.
