Kenneth F. Adams, of Cornwall Manor, formerly a longtime resident of Mifflin Park, Reading, died on July 5 at the age of 96. Ken was born in Reading, the son of Stanley M. and Kathryn E. Adams.
Ken was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Alma B. "Becky" Adams. He is survived by a nephew, David Shirey and his wife Cynthia of Womelsdorf, and by cousins in Reading, New Jersey and California.
Ken was a 1945 graduate of Reading High and 1947 graduate of Wyomissing Polytechnic Institute. He completed a professional apprenticeship at Textile Machine Works, launching a six-decade career at the same organization as it evolved into Rockwell International and later Arrow International. Ken retired from Arrow as Supervisor of Industrial Engineering.
Kenny enjoyed golfing and was competitive, earning a shelf full of trophies over the years. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. Ken loved dogs, and saw that several were well cared for. He was a lifelong member of St. Mark's UCC, Reading.
Kenny's greatest joy in life, by far, was his beloved Becky. The precious years they shared, and all the good times they enjoyed together, became Ken's sustaining memories in his later years.
Always fiercely self-reliant, Ken lived independently and continued driving until just before his 96th birthday. He will be fondly recalled as hard working, reliable, caring and quick witted. If Kenny didn't want to do or try something, he didn't, and chalked it up to being a bull headed Pennsylvania Dutchman.
For their dedication and kindness a sincere Thank You is extended to Cornwall Manor's outstanding health care staff. The support you provided was amazing.
