Kayla L. Malick, 20, of Minersville, formerly of Tamaqua, passed away on June 12, 2010 in her residence, after a long battle with cancer.
Born July 3, 1989 in Lehighton, she was a daughter of James L., husband of Heather M. (Derck) Malick of Maidencreek Township and Lori A. (Wagner), wife of David C. Pizzico of Pottsville.
She was a 2007 graduate of Nativity B.V.M. High School and attended Alvernia College.
She was a member of St. Matthew the Evangelist R.C. Church, Minersville.
Also surviving is a brother, Dominic Pizzico of Pottsville; three sisters, Chaney M., Rylee N. and Emme A. Malick of Maidenreek Township; paternal grandparents, George and Sun Malick of Lansford, Carbon County; step grandparents, Preston and Susan Derck of Mohrsville; maternal grandparents, Edward and Donna Wagner of Catasaqua; step grandparents Ernest and Joan Pizzico of Minersville; aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Diana Wagner.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service.
