Kathryn R. Newpher

Kathryn R. (Riegel) Newpher, 99, formerly of West Reading, died August 12, 2013, in Berks Heim.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest H. Newpher, on October 20, 1989.

Born in West Reading, she was the daughter of the late Charles P. and Eva E. (Reber) Riegel.

She was a graduate of West Reading High School in 1931 and Reading Hospital School of Nursing in 1935.

Kathryn was a registered nurse for 60 years last employed by the Reading Hospital, retiring in 1972.

She was a lifetime member of Reading Hospital Alumni Association.

Kathryn was a member of Epler's United Church of Christ, Leesport.

Kathryn is survived by her daughter, Virginia A., wife of Gerald R. Straub, Leesport and her step-son, Donald H., husband of Georgene Stehman, Sinking Spring. Also surviving are three grandsons: Rory S., husband of Julie Straub, Sinking Spring; Randall D., husband of Bonnie Straub, Fleetwood; and Robert B., husband of Judy Straub, Reading; and four great grandchildren: Derek, Taylor, Kristen and Austin.

Graveside Services will be private at the convenience of the family in Sinking Spring Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Epler's U.C.C.
