Kathryn Ann "Kass" (Betz) Mogel, 90, of Wyomissing, died peacefully in her sleep on May 10, 2014 at The Highlands of Wyomissing.
Kass was born August 1, 1923 in Allentown, PA. She was the daughter of the late Richard P. and Edna (Wertman) Betz.
Kass was inducted into the National Honor Society the year she graduated from Shillington High School in 1941. It would be another 32 years before such an honor was again bestowed on the Mogel family. After high school, she obtained an Associate's degree in Secretarial Science in 1943 from Weylister Secretarial School in Milford, CT. Thereafter,
Kass employment as a secretary for George Balmer, Esq. at the law firm then known as Zieber & Snyder, and currently known as Mogel, Speidel, Bobb and Kershner. There she met a handsome young lad by the name of Carl Mogel. They were married in short order on May 4, 1946.
Kass and Carl had three stellar sons, Peter B., husband of Connie S. (Earvin) Mogel of Lower Alsace Township; David W., husband of Ellen E. (Warner) Mogel of Wyomissing and Frederick R., husband of Denise M. (Duddy) Mogel of Wyomissing.
Also surviving are four grandchildren: Chandler P., Ian T., Katrina B. and Erich W.
She was predeceased by her husband, and love of her life, Carl F. Mogel, who died on June 21, 1994.
Kass was also predeceased by her brother, Richard W. "Jack" Betz and her aunt, Dorothy Wertman, along with several other aunts and uncles.
A very important part of Kass's life was her involvement with the Women's Exchange of West Reading, from the late 1960's through the early 2000s, serving most of her time there as co-manager.
Kass was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, Wyomissing, where she and her husband served as Sunday school teachers for several years.
A very crafty woman, she made many of her own holiday decorations and enjoyed doing needlepoint.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Atonement Lutheran Church, 5 Wyomissing Blvd., Wyomissing, PA 19610. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township.
