Kathryn Flory Maier

Kathryn F. Maier, 89, long-time resident of the Heritage of Green Hills, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2026, in the care of Reading Hospital.

Born in Bryan, TX, to the late Walter S. and Maude (Thomas) Flory, she graduated from John Handley High School in Winchester, VA. She graduated from Agnes Scott College in 1958 with her bachelor's degree and later graduated from Rutgers University with her Master of Social Work.

Kathy was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In the early 2000's she relocated to the Reading area from northern New Jersey so she could be closer to family. Once settled, she found a church family at Atonement Lutheran Church. She enjoyed volunteer work, especially with the homework helps program through the Reading School District.

Left to treasure Kathy's memory are her children: Andrew C. Maier, husband of Lisa, of Summerfield, NC; Thomas B. Maier, husband of Colleen, of Mount Holly, NC; Elizabeth K. McCurley, wife of Scott, of Mohnton, PA; and Peter A. Maier, husband of Kimber, of Takoma Park, MD; grandchildren: Rebekah Brundage, wife of Michael; Aaron Maier; Corinne McCurley; Nicholas Maier, fiancé of Virginia; Aiden McCurley; Jessica Maier; River Maier; and Eva Maier; and great-grandchildren, Daniel and Lucas Brundage. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas R. Flory.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by: her grandson, Joshua Maier; her brother, Walter S. Flory, Jr.; and her former husband, Walter J. Maier.

Funeral Services for Kathy will be at Atonement Lutheran Church, 5 Wyomissing Blvd, Wyomissing, PA 19610, on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, is entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
