Kathryn M. Luckenbill, 101, formerly of West Reading, died Aug. 7 at 5:20 a.m. in ManorCare Health Services Inc., Muhlenberg Township, where she had been a resident since 2000.
Her husband, Paul A. Luckenbill, died Jan. 14, 1976.
Born in Annville, Lebanon County, she was a daughter of the late Paul F. and Ida M. (Stohler) Moyer.
Luckenbill had been employed for 39 years as an area elementary school teacher, first working two years for the Reading School District. She then taught 37 years in the Robeson Township School District, where she spent 27 years at the former Seyfert School.
She retired in 1966 after teaching 10 years at Robeson Elementary School, where she was among the school's inaugural group of teachers.
Luckenbill was a graduate of West Reading High School and was a 1921 graduate of West Chester State Normal School.
She was a member of St. James Church, West Reading.
Luckenbill is survived by a brother, James H. Moyer, Northmont.
Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m on Wednesday at the Kuhn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Heartland Home Health and Hospice, 4 Park Road, Wyomissing, PA 19610. Burial will be in Sinking Spring Cemetery.
