Kathryn M. " Kitten" Germann, 84, formerly of West Reading and Womelsdorf, passed away peacefully at Berks Heim on April 19, 2008.

She was the widow of Richard A. Germann who passed away on April 14, 1975.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Barbara "Tieffenbach" Abel.

She will always be remembered for her beautiful yard, in which she took great pride, and was active with the Women's Auxiliary of the Reading Hospital during their annual Plant Sale.

Kathryn worked as a saleswoman for Junior Colony at the Berkshire Mall, and later at Reading Berks Automobile Club until her retirement.

She enjoyed knitting, reading, and most of all her beloved grandchildren. Aaron and Brady. Traveling to California to see her son, as well as Florida where her favorite vacation spots, often venturing alone, as her independent nature shone through. She appreciated everyone who helped in her care.

Kathryn is survived by a daughter Robin, wife of William Engle, Womelsdorf; her son, Richard Germann, Long Beach, California, her grandson, Aaron Lockerby and her granddaughter, Brady Lockerby.

Other survivors include her sister Anne Hain, Pt. Orange, Florida; her nieces Suzanne Atamare, Daytona Beach, Florida, and Karen McLean, Newport News, Virginia, and one cousin Kurt Barron, also of Florida

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, P.O Box 6217, Reading, PA 19610. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.
