Katherine L. Bennethum

Katherine Lane "Kay" (Baird) Bennethum, 90, of Wyomissing, died July 19, 2007 in the Reading Hospital.

She was the widow of Robert K. Bennethum, who died January 24, 1982.

Born in Poughkeepsie, New York on June 23, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Archibald "Archie" F. and Clara E. (Lane) Baird.

She was a graduate of Wyomissing High School.

Katherine was employed 25 years with Strawbridge and Clothier, last working as a Senior Salesperson, before retiring in 2001.

She is survived by four children, Janice B. wife of Gerald R. McCreary of Lititz, Carol L. Orr of Sinking Spring, Rob A. husband of Nancy K. (Thomas) Bennethum of Sinking Spring and David J. husband of Kathleen L. (Heck) Bennethum of Bensalem, Bucks County.

Other survivors include two brothers, John of Marietta, Georgia and David of Kennesaw, Georgia.

There are also six grandchildren, two great granddaughters and three step great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, John Robert Bennethum, who died December 30, 1948.

Katherine was also predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Ulrich.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 10:00 am in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, with the Rev. Jeffrey C. Stonesifer officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
