Katharine M. (Meyer) Whitman, 87, of Wyomissing, passed away March 26, 2012, in Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

Her husband, Barry F. Whitman, II, died March 8, 2002.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Christian F. and Katharine J. (Friedmann) Meyer.

She was a graduate of Wyomissing High School in 1942 and Wilson College, Chambersburg, in 1946.

Katharine was employed as a Director of the Berks County Division of the Pennsylvania Heart Association.

She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Mt Penn. and served as an Area Minister of the Christian Education for the PA South East Conference of U.C.C.

Katharine was past President of Consistory and Elder Emeritus of Trinity U.C.C.

She was also a substitute teacher for the Antietam School District.

She is survived by two daughters, Ellen K. (Whitman), wife of Robert B. Waggoner, New Meadows, ID and Martha W. (Whitman), wife of Dr. J. Marc Aynardi, Wyomissing; five grandchildren, Michael, Brian, and Jason Aynardi and Nicholas and Katharine Waggoner and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Katharine was predeceased by two sisters, Anna M. Knoll and Elizabeth M. Roberts and her half-brother, Christian F. Meyer II.

Services will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. in Trinity U.C.C., 2449 Cumberland Ave. Mt. Penn, Reading, PA 19606. Burial will be private in Charles Evans Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 11:30 to 1:00 p.m. in the church. Contributions may be made to Trinity U.C.C. at the above address. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements.
