Karl Eugene Beard

Karl Eugene Beard of Denver, Pennsylvania—formerly of Morgantown and Cornwall—passed away on April 17, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 6, 1937, to the late Roy and Mary Beard (Magyar), Karl lived 88 remarkable years and left a lasting impression everywhere he went through his quick wit, boundless kindness, and warm spirit.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Ruth Anne (Ruhl). Karl first met Ruth Anne, the love of his life, in second grade. They shared 68 years of marriage, serving as a beautiful example of true love and devotion. Together, they danced through life, raising their three daughters—often to the tune of “Pink Carnation.”

Karl’s greatest joy was his family. Whether he was traveling from greenhouse to greenhouse searching for the perfect “deal” for one of his beloved daughters, or standing on the sidelines as the most enthusiastic cheerleader for his daughters’ and grandchildren’s sporting events—as both spectator and coach—Karl made everyone feel like family. We were truly blessed to call him Dad and “Grampy Karl.”

A passionate athlete of all sports, Karl developed a love for track and field during his years at Cornwall High School, where he was a standout competitor. He carried that passion into a lifelong vocation, coaching Little League, girls’ softball, and serving as a volunteer track coach for 25 years at Twin Valley and Holy Name High School. Coach Beard touched the lives of countless athletes, inspiring them to exceed their own expectations through his encouragement, discipline, and unwavering belief in their potential.

Faith and family were the anchors of Karl’s life. He was a devoted, lifelong member of St. Benedict’s Church in Mohnton, Pennsylvania, where his faith provided friendship, strength, and purpose. Karl lived what he believed—kindness, generosity, and an open heart for everyone he met. His laughter, stories, and easy smile brightened every room. Though his presence will be deeply missed, his light will continue to shine through his family, his friends, and the many lives he touched.

Karl was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who delighted in every milestone, both big and small. He is also survived by his three daughters and their husbands; Cynthia and George Reppert, Monica and Thomas Ross, and Theresa and Kevin Raquet; his beloved grandchildren, Lyndsey Gable, Robert Harris, Laura Gamble, Michael Harris, Matthew Raquet, Sarah Eby, and Kristine Rapp; and his eleven cherished great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Thomas Roy Beard and Mary Elizabeth Rosenberg.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Benedict Church, 2020 Chestnut Hill Road, Mohnton, PA 19540. Friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church prior to the Mass. Burial will be private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

Contributions may be made in Karl’s memory to St. Benedict Church at the address above. Arrangements are entrusted to Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Online condolences may be shared at www.kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
