Karen L. (Schulz) Kershner, 77, of Hamburg, went to be with the Lord on October 31, 2021, at the Reading Hospital.
She was the widow of Robert C. Kershner.
Born in Cleveland, OH, she was a daughter of the late William D. and Grace M. (Gladding) Schulz, Sr.
She was a 1961 graduate of Willoughby South High School, OH and a 1966 graduate of Asbury College, Wilmore, KY. She also received a master's degree in education from Millersville University.
Karen was a member and chairman of the Delta Kappa Gamma; a member of the Education Society; World Fellowship Society and Board Member of the Berks Food Pantry.
She was employed by the Hamburg Area School District as a teacher, touching the lives of many of her students for over 28 years. She also volunteered at the Reading Area Community College in their GED Program.
Karen was a faithful, active member of Salem United Methodist Church, Shoemakersville.
A true fighter with a giant spirit to match; family and faith were most important to her. She was a kind and compassionate woman with a heart of gold who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by two children, ElizaBeth A. Moore, Hamburg and Charles "Chuck" N., Jr., husband of Nicole A. Watmuff, Dauberville; two grandchildren, Kevin "K.C." Williams, Jr. and Calliesta A. Watmuff. Two siblings, Ann E. Donley and Gregory H. Schulz, both of Conneaut, OH; one sister-in-law, Mary (Philbin) Schulz and many nieces and nephews also survive her.
She was predeceased by two brothers, William Daniel (Dan) Schulz, Sr. and Charles D. Schulz.
A visitation will be Monday, November 8, 2021, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, 40 S. 4th St, Hamburg. Another viewing will be held at Salem United Methodist Church, 605 Main St, Shoemakersville, PA 19555 on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. with services to follow at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be at Ebenezer Cemetery, Perry Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Salem United Methodist Church Mission Fund at the above address. Online condolences may be recorded at Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Hamburg, PA .
