Karen L. Bare Michalski

Karen L. Bare Michalski, 81, passed away on Sunday January 14, 2024, at the Reading Hospital. She was the wife of Kenneth J. Michalski. Born in West Reading, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Kathryn (Neider) Belles.

She worked as a manager at Singer Sewing Machines, Berkshire Mall and later at The Galleria, West Reading as a seamstress. Karen also worked from her home as a seamstress for most of her professional career.

She was a member of Advent Lutheran Church, West Lawn. Karen loved sewing, playing cards, traveling, and her many dear friends. She loved to spend time by the water whether it was at a pool or beach.

Karen is survived by her children: Lori E. Heisey (Duane), Kathryn D. Brown (Mark), and Ronald R. Bare, Jr. (Sharon); her step-children, Cheri Ash (Harry) and Timothy Michalski, grandsons, Richard J. Hartlieb, Jr. and Austin E. Brown; step-granddaughters, Sheila Hinkle and Leigh Ann Heisey; and great grandchildren, Grant, Claire, and Rhett Hartlieb. Karen loved children; she poured her heart and soul into every child she cared for including Erin and Eric Becker, who she considered to be her surrogate grandchildren. Rowland, Samantha and Coraline Marshall were other family that she cherished the opportunity to care for.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Kuhn Funeral Home, West Reading. The visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be private.
