Julio R. Ortiz

Julio R. Ortiz, 54, of West Reading, died December 1, 2022, at the Reading Hospital.

Born in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, he was a son of the late Julio Cruz and Aida (Cruz) Henry.

He was a 1986 graduate of Reading High School.

Julio was employed by the City of Reading and previously working at BARTA as a bus driver for 30 years.

He was a hard-working, determined and an avid reader. He enjoyed fitness and working out. Most importantly he was a great father and loyal to all his loved ones.

He is survived by his three children: Juanyea Ortiz of Harrisburg, PA , Shaniya Shabrach-Ortiz of Arizona, and Analise Ortiz of Connecticut. He was one of ten children, his siblings include: Julio A. Ortiz, Luis Velasquez, Juan Velasquez, Felisita Velazquez, Antonio Velasquez, Roberto Velasquez, Santos Velasquez, Ruth Ortiz (deceased), and Santos "Tito" Velasquez and a host of family and close friends.

Celebration of Life will be held at Riverside Beneficial at 1742 Pear Street, Reading, PA 19601 on Saturday 12/17/22 at 1pm-5pm for all friends and family. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at www.kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
