It is with broken hearts that we share the sudden and tragic passing of Julio Gutierrez Colón, who left this world far too soon on June 4, 2025, at the age of 44. Born on November 28, 1980, in Brooklyn, New York, Julio was the beloved son of Carmen Rosa Colón López and Julio Gutierrez.
Julio was a man of deep compassion, strong values, and endless love for his family. For 16 unforgettable years, he shared a devoted and loving partnership with his wife and best friend, Janet Acevedo. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, warmth, and unconditional love. He was a proud father by choice to Zaida Rahiem and Isaiah Rahiem, whom he guided with care and pride. His heart was forever captured by his precious daughter, Janais Nayeli Gutierrez, his little princess and the light of his life.
Julio was also a proud grandfather to his beautiful granddaughter, Zeliyaha Hidalgo, and though their time together was short, his love for her was deep and genuine. In heaven, Julio will embrace his grandson, Mikaal Rahiem Soto, with open arms and eternal love.
He is deeply mourned by his loving brothers, Carlos Manuel Gutierrez and Nicolás Gutierrez, who, like the rest of his family, admired Julio's strength, heart, and ability to make everyone around him feel special.
Julio was the best son a parent could ask for—respectful, loyal, and always present with a heart full of gratitude and generosity. As a husband, he was deeply devoted and affectionate; as a father and grandfather, he was nurturing and fiercely protective. He was the kind of man who made others feel safe, valued, and loved. Julio's friends remember him as someone you could always count on. His beautiful, contagious smile could light up any room, and his joyful, silly spirit made everyone laugh and feel at ease. He was selfless, giving, and always thinking of others before himself. Whether offering a helping hand, lending a listening ear, or simply sharing a joke to brighten your day, Julio gave the best of himself to everyone around him. His kindness and generosity will never be forgotten. Though his life was tragically cut short, Julio's legacy will live on through every heart he touched. His memory will be kept alive through the stories, the laughter, and the deep love he leaves behind.
His family shares this heartfelt message:
"He will always be in our minds and forever in our hearts. We love you always, July."
Julio Gutierrez Colón will be missed beyond words, remembered with tears and smiles, and loved for all eternity. His light lives on in all who knew and cherished him.
