Julianne Witmer

Julianne "Judy" (Haas) Witmer, 84, of West Lawn, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family August 1, 2012 in San Ramon Regional Medical Center, CA.

Her husband, Cameron T. "Woody" Witmer, passed away in 2007.

She was a 1945 graduate of West Reading High School.

Judy was a nutrition supervisor for Penn State University via the Agricultural Center from 1977 to 1988; she then worked for Reading Rehab, now Health South, as a patient escorter, retiring in 2007.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing and embroidery, reading, walking, swimming and loved spending time with her grandchildren and her dog, Soozi.

She is survived by her five children: Kristine M. (Witmer) Batten, M.D., wife of George Batten, M.D., of Danville, CA; A. Jean Witmer of West Reading; Thomas C. husband of Diane Witmer of Mohrsville; John C. husband of Karen Witmer of Exeter Township and Peter A. Witmer of West Wyomissing. Also surviving are her siblings: Patricia Wise, Denver, PA; Molly Weeber, Traverse City, MI and Theodore Haas, Saskatchewan, Canada. Six grandchildren: Erika Batten, Elizabeth Batten, Kimberly Batten, Michael Witmer, Daniel Witmer and Andrew Witmer also survive her.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday at 6 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Friends may call Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
