Julia Catherine Kozak Onopa 83 years old. Died Monday, March 12, 2007 Survived by her husband, Peter Onopa and three sons and spouses, David and Sally Onopa of Allentown, Lenny and Joan Onopa of Pottstown and Jeffrey and Evie Onopa of Reading.

Julie was the daughter of the late Karol and Katerznya (Majda) Kozak. Surviving siblings include three sisters, Stephanie Kaufman, Mary Guzewski and Emily Bright and two brothers, Tony Kozak and John Kozak.

Julie was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph Kozak and Frank Kozak.

Also surviving are six grandchildren, Jennifer Onopa, Natalie Volk, Justin Onopa, Morgan Onopa, Ryan Onopa and Kelly Onopa.

In additional to caring for her family, Julia worked as a waitress at the Iris Club for 22 years and became a full member of the club upon retirement at age 65. Julia was also the General Manager of Onopa's Commodities Coffee Stand at the Shillington Farmer's Market until age 70.

Julia was an active member of her community throughout her life. She was an active member of the Rosary Society of St. Anthony's Parish in Millmont, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Kenhorst Fire Company, Union of Polish Women, the Polish/American Citizen's Club, and the Friendly Senior Citizen's Group. She chaired numerous social functions in the community throughout her life.

Julie was an avid dancer and was awarded the Polka Queen Award in 1955. She was an excellent cook and loved cooking for her family and church functions. Julie also had a special love for gardening.

Julie will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to At. Anthony's Church 501 Summit Avenue Reading, PA 19611. Edward J.
